About

I am Genine Carvalheira - an Artist, Urban Sketcher and Designer.

I created this website to share my skill and passion of recording and bearing witness to day-to-day life through the use of watercolors, pen and ink. Finding inspiration everyday, whether it be a city scene while walking through my town or traveling abroad, the simple beauty of an everyday pear or the chaotic power lines from the common telephone pole - I am never without my sketchbook, always ready to record my experiences and the world around me.

My artistic journey started in 2007 and I haven't put the pen down since. My work has evolved through practice, trial and error. Having filled almost 70 sketchbooks, this is an amazing journey that I am extremely grateful for.

Born on Long Island, I spent time working in New York City. I’ve lived in New York and Toronto and currently live in Bogota, Colombia

I hope you see something on my site or in my shop that speaks to you or maybe reminds you of a special time or person in your life. If you are interested in custom work please message me to discuss pricing and timelines.

Travel

Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. Over the years I have been lucky enough to be able to travel  and draw in over 20 countries and counting.

While discovering new places I take every opportunity to record my adventures in my sketchbook.

In this photo, I am in Chicago drawing during a workshop at one if the Urban Sketchers International Symposiums.
